In September a limited edition record was released with a gatefold cover. content

Most of the songs are about war . This is how the title dogs describe the conditions on the war front if you want to live forever . The boat , named after the film of the same name and taking up the theme of the theme song, is about a submarine attack . My little soldier describes the path of a normal person to a deadly fighting machine through the influence of the media and third parties. At the end of the song you can hear a piece of the song Lili Marleen by Lale Andersen . At the end of the music video for the song Das Boot , the band thanks Klaus Doldinger .

Dance of Death describes a medieval custom that served to appease the dead and drive out evil spirits. Under the hatchet describes the execution of a convict by the guillotine .

Golgotha describes the crucifixion of Jesus on Mount Golgotha , who was nailed to the cross because he claimed to be the Son of God. The song Gotteskrieger treats, as the song title says, the subject of belief in God. This sends out his warriors , who should kill all unbelievers. This song, which is played from the first person perspective, says that you will be rewarded with a place in heaven for these deeds .

Cockchafer fly ! is a German folk song . In the chorus of the song, the band uses the Lower Saxony version of the folk song, which was sung by a girl.

Fly maybeetle!
The father is at war,
the mother is in Pommerland,
and Pommerland burned down.
Fly maybeetle!

Reviews

  • Stormbringer.at describes the album as a mix of Rammstein , Saltatio Mortis and Subway to Sally . Stylistically, he compares Gotteskrieger with the album Herzeleid von Rammsteinbased on the German lyrics and the hard metal riffs. The album leaves nothing to be desired, but it is nothing special.
  • Powermetal.de praises the fact that the band uses many lyrics that speak out against the war, like the song Das Boot und Maikäfer flieg! . However, the critic is of the opinion that the album cannot achieve a long-term effect because of its dry sounds. Powermetal gave the album a total of 6 out of 10 points.
  • Sleaze-Metal.com describes the German metal scene as a double-edged sword in which pseudo villains like freezing rain , Endstille and bands à la Deadlock like Callejon have established themselves. Nevertheless, the critic describes that the songs, like Golgotha, do not leave the ear canal of the hearing as quickly as with other German-speaking metal bands. The critic also finds it astonishing that not a single song is similar, but you can always tell that it is the same band that is playing.
  • The Rock Hard describes the musical style as heavy, hard, well played heavy metal with rough, slightly thrashy vocals and unsophisticated, perfectly fitting German texts without the slightest Presley - pants - or Rammstein -Einschlag what the critics idol Kühnemund emphasizes praise. However, slight influences from Candlemass (in the song Golgatha ), Amon Amarth (in the song Das Boot ) and epic Black Metal influences (in the song Am Grab ) can be heard.
  • The Metal Hammer describes the band as a “ chameleon ” of the German heavy metal genre. The critic describes the album as versatile, which should inspire lovers of different genres of hard sounds equally, because according to Andreas Schöwe the band mixes several genres with one another. He is even of the opinion that the song Dogs, Do you want to live forever , could come from Exodus , Lääz Rockit or Testament , if it had been written in English .
