Gottfried Sonnholz
Gottfried Sonnholz (* 1695 ; † 1781 ) was an Austrian organ builder in the Baroque era .
life and work
Sonnholz became a citizen of Vienna in 1725 and worked in Lower Austria . Since 1742 he lived in Wieden , Wiedner Hauptstrasse 7. When the house burned down in 1759, Sonnholz rebuilt it and received three years of tax exemption. In the 1750s Sonnholz withdrew from organ building.
His son Johann Baptist Sonnholz was an imperial-royal captain and moved into his father's house after his father's death. The daughter Maria Anna Visconti lived there from 1784.

He created important organ works at a high artistic and craft level and was one of the best Viennese organ builders of the high baroque era. Its baroque organs have a magnificent, lavishly gilded prospect and are decorated with rich veils .
