The 58th Grand Prix de Wallonie 2017 was a Belgian road bike race in Wallonia with start in Chaudfontaine and finish in Namur after 212.1 km . It took place on Wednesday , September 13, 2017 . It was also part of the UCI Europe Tour 2017 and classified there in category 1.1 .

The route to Namur had numerous hills on the way and ended with an uphill destination to the citadel of Namur .

10 kilometers after the start of the race, a seven-man breakaway group formed around the Belgian Sander Cordeel (Verandas Willems). They had a lead of a maximum of four minutes and were back a good 55 kilometers from the finish. There was a wind edge situation a good 40 kilometers before the finish. As a result, many drivers fell behind. A group of around 20 men formed at the head of the race. Among others, Tim Wellens (Belgium), Tony Gallopin (France), Tiesj Benoot (Belgium / all three Lotto Soudal), Petr Vakoč (Czech Republic / Quick Step) and Jan Bakelants (Belgium / AG2R). Another attack reduced the group to eight drivers. The three Lotto Soudal drivers were there. Almost 15 kilometers from the finish, Wellens attacked up to Tienne aux Pierres and gained a lead of about 50 seconds. As a result, it increased to just two minutes before the goal. Wellens lost some time up to the citadel of Namur, but he won this one-day race as a soloist. A good 85 seconds later, his teammate Gallopin followed. Third was Julien Simon (France / Cofidis).
