The Grennelbach rises at an altitude of about 713  m above sea level. NHN south-east of the Schlüchtern district of Gundhelm .

It finally flows west of Schlüchterner district Vollmerz at an altitude of about 250  m above sea level. NHN from the right and northeast into the Kinzig .

Its approximately 5.7 km long run ends about 296 meters below its source, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 52 ‰.

Catchment area

The 8.16 km² catchment area of ​​the Grennelbach lies in the Kuppenrhön and is drained to the North Sea via the Kinzig, Main and Rhine rivers.
