Grillenberg is a district of Sangerhausen in the state of Saxony-Anhalt .

The place is about nine kilometers north of the district town on the edge of the Harz Mountains . Since November 27, 2006, Grillenberg has had the title of "State Recognized Resort".

In a register of the tithes of the Hersfeld monastery that was created between 881 and 899 , Grillenberg was probably first mentioned as a place of tithing in Coriledorpf . In 1147 the "Burgamt Grillenberg" appeared as part of the old Sangerhausen rule. The office was separated and given to the Thuringian Count Lambertius (von Gleichen), who called himself comes de Monte . At the castle office, the owners and their administrators changed. In a feud in 1361, the castle with office and location was taken by the Counts of Mansfeld. In 1362 he had to give everything back. The peasants of the village were exempted from all taxes and services for three years, as they had suffered much damage during the siege of the castle. In 1430 22 abandoned villages that belonged to the castle office are mentioned. In 1525 the castle office came back to Sangerhausen. The last resident of the castle was in 1683 the "royal forest and stuff servant" Hans Lehmann.

The village church, which has existed since the 13th century, is dedicated to St. Nicholas .

On October 1, 1972, the place was incorporated into Obersdorf . On March 21, 1990 he became independent again by hiving off from Obersdorf. On October 1, 2005 he was incorporated into Sangerhausen.
