Grottenhof (forest)

Grottenhof is a contiguous forest area in the south of the municipality of the city of Treuchtlingen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . Until the municipal reform in Bavaria, the forest was a municipality-free area .

The area is located in the middle of the Altmühltal nature park in the south of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district. The border with the Swabian district of Donau-Ries runs in the west. The forest area is located north of Gundelsheim , south of Windischhausen , southwest of Treuchtlingen and east of Uhlberg . Grottenhof is located in the Weißenburger Alb , a mountain range of the Franconian Alb . The Monheimer Alb begins in the west . To the north borders Hagenhof , Freihardt , upper and Unterheumödern to, on the west lies Siebeneich courtyards , in the eastern carrot , in the south playground and Eichhof . The forest is criss-crossed by some field paths and country roads. In the north are the Moselstein and the Kirschbühl , in the west the Uhlberg , the Hausberg and the Kühberg .
