The Moselstein is 565.7  m above sea level. NHN high, wooded elevation of the Franconian Alb low mountain range in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ).

location

The Moselstein is located in the Altmühltal Nature Park, southwest of Ober- and Unterheumödern , southeast of Freihardt and a little northeast of Siebeneichhöfe ; they are all districts of Treuchtlingen . Parts of the nature reserve protection zone in the Altmühltal nature park are located on the Moselstein ( CDDA no. 396115; designated 1995; size 1632.9606  km² ). The Grottenhof forest area extends to the south .

To the west lies the Kirschbühl and in the southwest the local mountain with the Kühberg . The Rohrach flows north to the north and the Hahnenkamm ridge extends beyond it .

Natural allocation

The Moselstein belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the subunit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Obere Altmühlalb (082.22).
