Guido Calcagnini
Guido Calcagnini (born September 25, 1725 in Ferrara , † August 27, 1807 in Osimo ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .
Life
He was the third of five children of Count Cesare Calcagnini, ninth Marchese of Fusignano, and his wife Caterina degli Obizzi. Cardinal Carlo Leopoldo Calcagnini and Silvester Calcagnini came from the same sex . He studied from 1737 at the Collegio dei Nobili di San Carlo in Modena and later at the University of La Sapienza in Rome , which he graduated on May 15, 1747 with a doctorate in theology and the Doctor iuris utriusque .
He settled in Rome and entered the service of the Curia . In 1749 he became the house prelate of His Holiness . He was ordained a subdeacon on November 11, 1764 . He was ordained deacon on November 30, 1764 and ordained a priest on December 21, 1764 .
Pope Clement XIII. appointed him on February 4, 1765 titular Archbishop of Tarsus . The episcopal ordination donated to him on February 10th of the same year in Rome the Pope himself. On February 22nd, 1765 Calcagnini was appointed nuncio in the Kingdom of Naples , and on February 24th of the same year papal assistant to the throne . On April 8, 1775 he became prefect of the papal household .
He was on May 20, 1776 by Pope Pius VI. elevated to cardinalate and received as cardinal priest to the titular church Santa Maria in Traspontina . On the same day the Pope appointed him as Archbishop ad personam Bishop of Osimo e Cinguli . Calcagnini took part in the conclave of 1799/1800 , which Pope Pius VII elected.
He died in Osimo in 1807 and was buried in the local cathedral .
