Guillaume van den Elzen

Guillaume van den Elzen OSA (born August 24, 1913 in Uden , Netherlands ; † January 23, 2000 ) was a Dutch religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Doruma-Dungu .

Life

Guillaume van den Elzen joined the congregation of the Augustinians at and received on 29 September 1940, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On November 13, 1958, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the first Apostolic Prefect of Doruma.

On September 26, 1967, Guillaume van den Elzen became the first bishop of Doruma (later Doruma-Dungu) as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture of Doruma . The Bishop of Ghent , Léonce Albert Van Peteghem , donated him episcopal ordination on January 25, 1968 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Bruges , Emiel-Jozef De Smedt , and the Bishop of Niangara , François-Odon De Wilde OP .

Guillaume van den Elzen attended the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On May 7, 1983, Pope John Paul II accepted van den Elzen's resignation.
