Azinphosmethyl is a chemical compound from the group of dithiophosphoric acid esters and triazines . It is used as broadband organophosphate - insecticide used in the cultivation of various fruits and vegetables. Like other substances in this group, it acts as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor . The compound hit the headlines when Bayer (which is the world's largest manufacturer of the compound) tested its effects on humans directly in Scotland in 1998 . Since azinphosmethyl is used in many countries, residues of it were found in foods imported into Germany.
history
Azinphos-methyl was in the study of alkyl phosphates, which as nerve agents discovered were used in World War II. It was first registered as an insecticide in the USA in 1958.
Admission
In the USA, the approval expired on September 30, 2012. The product is not approved in EU countries such as Germany and Austria or in Switzerland. However, the EU is looking into approving the drug subject to strict conditions.
