Håkan Lindquist

Håkan Lindquist (* 1958 in Oskarshamn ) is a Swedish writer. He lives in Stockholm and Berlin . His novels deal, among other things, with the subject of same-sex love .

Life

Lindquist made his writing career debut in 1993 with the novel Min Bror och hans Bror (literally My Brother and His Brother ), which was published in Germany in 2007 as Paul, my big brother . He tells of the youngster Jonas, who one day finds the jacket of his late brother Paul in the attic, in which a letter indicates a homosexual relationship with another boy. The book has been translated into several languages, including a. the French translation received the literary award Prix ​​Littéraire de la Bordelaise de Lunetterie .

Lindquist also writes articles and reviews for various Scandinavian publications. In addition, he wrote the libretto for the opera William , which deals with a fictional love affair between William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe . The opera premiered in July 2006 in Vadstena Castle .
