Hélène Segara
Hélène Ségara (* 26. February 1971 in Six-Fours-les-Plages , Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur as Hélène Rizzo ) is a French singer .
biography
Ségara's father is Italian, her mother is Armenian. Her parents divorced when Hélène was eight years old, and since then she has lived with her sister Magali with her mother. At the age of eleven she won a singing competition in which she sang the song "L'amour en héritage" by Nana Mouskouri . She left school at the age of 15 and began singing in various bars on the Côte d'Azur . In 1993 their first single "Loin" came out, but it was not very successful.
After several attempts at various music labels, she met producer Orlando and signed a contract with the East West label. Hélène's first single on this label, "Je vous aime adieu", was released in June 1996 and made it into the French charts. However, she didn't make her breakthrough until a year and a half later. Together with the Italian singer Andrea Bocelli , she recorded a Franco-Italian version of the song "Vivo per lei", which became the number 1 hit in France. At the beginning of 1998 her debut album "Cœur de verre" was released, which rose to number 6 in the album charts and stayed in the charts for over a year. Her next solo single was called "Loin du froid de décembre" and came from the soundtrack of the film Anastasia .
In 1998 she played the role of Esméralda in the original Parisian cast of the musical Notre Dame de Paris . However, after performing in 1999, she lost her voice and had to undergo an operation. But in November of the same year she had her first solo number 1 single with "Il ya trop de gens qui t'aiment". The album that followed, “Au nom d'une femme” just failed at number 1, but was in the charts for over two years and was awarded a diamond. Hélène Segara also became known in Switzerland with this album. There it reached the top 10 and had 59 chart weeks. The most famous songs from this album are “Elle, tu l'aimes”, “Tu vas me quitter”, both top 10 hits in France, and “Parlez-moi de nous”.
At the end of 2001 the live album "En Concert" was released, recorded at the Olympia in Paris . In 2002 she recorded a Spanish version of the album "Au nom d'une femme". And in 2003 the album "Humaine" came out, which continued the previous successes. In France it was number 1, in Switzerland it was number 5 and with “L'amour est un soleil” and “Encore une fois” it contained two songs with which she was also successful in the Swiss single charts this time. Most successful, however, was her duet with Laura Pausini , "On n'oublie jamais rien, on vit avec", which was her biggest hit in Switzerland so far with 3rd place.
On August 30, 2003 she married Mathieu Lecat and moved with him to France. The relationship resulted in three children; Raphael, Mattéo and Maya.
In November 2004 Segara's first Best Of came out, which featured 15 of her hits plus three new songs.
After a short break, the album "Quand l'éternité ..." was released on September 18, 2006, which immediately entered the French charts at number 1. The first single is called "Méfie-toi de moi" and sounds much harder than their previous recordings. The second single was "Rien n'est comme avant". She then went on tour and performed in various francophone countries, including Morocco , Réunion , Russia , Algeria and China . At the end of 2008 she recorded the duet “La moitié de nous” with the Canadian singer Bruno Pelletier . In November 2008 her concept album “Mon pays, c'est la terre” came out, which contains classical, traditional melodies from folklore. Another international tour followed this album. After a three-year hiatus, she returned in 2011 with her seventh studio album “Parmi la foule”. She sings the released single "Le Monde a l'envers" for the first time with her son Raphael.
The singer was asked by Joe Dassin's sons in 2012 if she would be interested in recording virtual duets with her father. At that time she had other offers, but accepted them because it was her heart's desire to be able to sing with Joe Dassin one day. In 2013 the album was released under the title D'où je viens . She only sings Les Champs-Élysées on it.
Segara regularly participates in the annual Les Enfoirés charity concert , the largest media event in the Francophone world.
