Julie Zenatti
Julie Zenatti (born February 5, 1981 in Paris ) is a French singer who became known for her role as Fleur-de-Lys in the musical Notre Dame de Paris by Luc Plamondon and Riccardo Cocciante .
Childhood and personal life
Julie Zenatti was born in Paris in 1981 and has Algerian and Italian roots. As a child, Julie Zenatti sang with her father, who accompanied her on the piano. She interpreted Edith Piaf , Johnny Hallyday , Barbra Streisand and Fugain . Zenatti now lives in Paris with her husband, the French comedian Benjamin Bellecour , and their daughter, who was born in January 2011.
Beginnings
At the age of twelve, Zenatti was discovered in a holiday club by an EMI representative . She got a record deal, in 1994 she recorded a song with Lenny Kravitz in London . Shortly afterwards, however, the contract was terminated as the pressure was too high for them. A year later, Zenatti recorded the soundtrack to an animated series (the French version of Princess Starla and the Crystal Saviors ) on France 3 . In the same year she was offered to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest , but she declined.
In 1996 the singer took part in the Francofolies music festival in La Rochelle . Danièle Molko , the festival's artistic director, accompanied her first steps. She introduced Zenatti to Luc Plamondon, author of the musical Notre Dame de Paris . She was then offered the role of Esmeralda in his musical. However, this role turned out to be too demanding for a girl at the age of 15, which is why she received the part of Fleur-de-Lys. At 17 she left school to devote herself entirely to music. In 1999 she played the Fleur-de-Lys in Canada , after returning to France she played the role of Esmeralda for six months.
Career
In 2000, she released her first album, Fragile, on Sony Music . The album was created in collaboration with Zazie , Galogero, Passi and Luck Mervil . She wrote her first single Si je m'en sors together with Patrick Fiori and achieved her first solo success with it. The gold- winning recording has sold 150,000 times. In 2002 her second album Dans les yeux d'un autre ( In the eyes of another ) was released. She wrote a large part of the texts together with Patrick Fiori, but also used texts by Maxime Le Forestier , Jacques Vénéruso and Jacques Lanzmann, among others . The album sold 140,000 copies and was awarded gold.
In 2004 her third album Comme vous ( Wie ihr ) from the pop-rock genre was released. Besides her, Patrick Fiori, Jean-Jacques Goldman , Axel Bauer and Lionel Florence worked on the album . The album received the gold record. She also began to write lyrics for other artists such as Chimène Badi , Patrick Fiori and Grégory Lemarchal . In 2007 she composed most of the music for her next album La boîte de Pandore ( The Pandora's Box ) on her own. With about 75,000 copies sold, it achieved moderate success over their previous releases.
In November 2008, with the help of her manager Danièle Molko, she organized a reunion of the original cast of Notre-Dame de Paris, where the idea arose to return to the stage with a concert version of the musical. Julie Zenatti tried her hand at writing and began writing the story down in a diary. In 2009, the singer was part of the jury team of the French version of the talent show X-Factor alongside Marc Ceronne and Alain Lanty . In 2010 her fifth album Plus de Diva ( More from the Diva ) was released in the symphony-pop genre. The songs for this album were written by Fréderic Chateau, Nathasha St Pier, Florent Pagny and Pascal Obispo . In 2013 Zenatti released her first live album. The EP Quelque part ... contains five songs, including Je te manque in a duet with François Raoult . In the same year she canceled her contract with Sony and signed with Universal . Her new album is to be released there, from which D'où je viens was previously released as a single.
