Pascal Michel Obispo (* 8. January 1965 in Bergerac region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ) is a French pop - singer and music producer who in Bordeaux and Rennes grew up.

biography

As a child Obispo initially wanted pro - basketball players are. After his parents separated, he went to Rennes with his mother and discovered his passion for music. In 1988 he founded the band Senso, after which he aspired to a solo career.

The debut album Le long du fleuve was released by EMI in 1990 , but did not attract the desired attention. The first success came in 1992 with the second long player Plus que tout au monde released by Sony Music . The album itself did not reach a chart position, but contained the hit singles Plus que tout au monde and Tu vas me manquer . Un jour comme aujourd'hui made it into the French top 20 in 1996, and the singles Tombé pour elle (1995, 12th place) and Tu compliques tout (1996, 21st place) were hits.

After Obispo appeared as support for Celine Dion on their tour, his popularity continued to rise. The 1996 album Superflu climbed to number 2 on the French charts, the accompanying singles Personne and Lucie became top 10 hits and sold over a million units. In the course of this success there was a collaboration with Florent Pagny in 1997 for his album Savoir aimer and in 1998 with Johnny Hallyday for the LP Ce que je sais .

Recordings from the previous Obispos concert tour could be heard on the number 1 album Live 98 . With position 2 and a stay of 81 weeks in the charts, the successor Soledad was no less successful in 1999. In the same year there was a collaboration with Patricia Kaas , on whose album Le mot de passe Obispo acted as producer and co-author .

After the turn of the millennium , the streak of success continued seamlessly. The albums Millésime (2001), Fan (2004), Les fleurs du bien (2006), Les fleurs de Forest (2007) and Welcome to the Magic World of Captain Samouraï Flower (2009) all climbed into the top 10 in France and delighted is also very popular in Switzerland. During this time, various singles made the jump into the charts, the songs Fan (2003) and Mauvaise foi nocturne (La réponse) (2007) even became number 1 hits. Another number 1 success was the 2013 CD Millésimes , Le grand amour rose to number 3 on the album charts shortly thereafter.
