Hijs Hokij Den Haag (from 2007 to 2014 HYS The Hague ) is a Dutch ice hockey club from The Hague . The team plays in the BeNe League .

history

The association was founded as HHIJC Den Haag in 1933 and is one of the most traditional in the Netherlands. 1938 won the first of 16 Dutch championship titles. Since the establishment of the honor division in 1945, the team from the Dutch government metropolis played mostly first class. In 1980, the team renounced the starting place in the top league for the first time, but returned to the honor division in 1981. The second withdrawal followed in 1983, but here too the return followed a year later. After the third retreat in 1986, it took until 1993 before the team became first class again for a year. After rising again in 1997, they rose in 2000 from bottom of the table in the Eerste Divisie . In 2004 the team returned to the honor division. In the 2008/09 season, the team won the Dutch championship title for the 13th time and should therefore take part in the first qualifying round of the 2009/10 Champions Hockey League in the following season . By canceling the 2009/10 CHL season, the club registered for the 2009/10 Continental Cup . In 2014 the club withdrew their team from the honor division after ten years, returned to the name Hijs Hokij Den Haag and played in the second-rate Eerste divisie in the 2014/15 season, which was won straight away in 2015.
