Location and landscape

View from Mehlstein into Lammertal to Scheffau, behind the Gosaukamm on the Dachstein

The Haarberg is the most south-westerly foothill of the Osterhorn group against the valley of the Salzach at the Pass Lueg . The Schwarzenberg stands as a rather isolated peak above the Golling-Halleiner basin and the lowest Lammertal near Golling an der Salzach and Scheffau am Tennengebirge . The Haarberg stretches westward from it as a wooded ridge, which then breaks off steeply against the Salzach, and continues in the Gollinger Rabenstein as the Inselberg. To the north of the Haarberg, behind the Rabenstein, the small valley of the rear Mitterbach opens up, the Hinterkellau (municipality of Kuchl ). The group of Scheffau at the southern foot is also called Haarberg .

Haarberg is actually referred to as the whole ridge from the Haarck pass  ( 722  m above sea level ), to the west this culminates above the Oetzer farm at 746  m above sea level. A. , the Haarberg in the narrower sense is the spur summit on the salt axis at 688  m above sea level. A. Also named is the southern front door of the back, the Mehlstein  ( 701  m above sea level ).

The entire front Haarberg, from around the Mehlstein, belongs to the Rabenstein – Kellau conservation area .
