history

Hahnhof was first mentioned in a copy book entry at the end of the 14th century for the year 1328. According to this, Hermann von Liebsberg and his wife Elsbeth sold, among other things, their own property "zw den Hon" to the Katharinenspital in Bamberg . Further mentions followed in 1338 when the Bamberg Bishop Leupold ruled in a dispute and in 1358 the Bamberg Bishop Lupold decided that the Katharinenspital from the mill in Prächting should pay an annual interest for the light to the chapel "zu dem Hayne". In 1384 Katrei, daughter of the deceased knight "vom Heyn", and Heinrich Ritter von Prächting renounced their rights to the farm "located between the Heyn", which belonged to the Katharinenspital.

In 1600 the "Haanhoff bey Brechting" was mentioned as the property of the Katharinenspital in Bamberg. Around 1610, a visitation report about Prächting wrote: “A little over there is the church ufn Bergle, with a courtyard”. In 1801 the settlement was described as a farm with a house and barn, not far from Ebensfeld. The fiefdom and bailiwick belonged to the Katharinenspital, the tithe as well as the church belonged to the parish of Ebensfeld. In 1833 the rooster was a hamlet on a hill with two houses, a branch church, 14 barns and a church. In 1862 the rural community of Prächting, to which the wasteland Hahnhof belonged, was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Staffelstein . The rural community belonged to the Staffelstein District Court. In 1871 Hahnhof had nine residents and seven buildings. The Catholic school was 0.8 kilometers away in Prächting and the parish church 3.5 kilometers away in Ebensfeld.

In 1900, the two places of the rural community Prächting covered an area of 502.08 hectares, 353 residents, all of whom were Catholics, and 66 residential buildings. Seven people lived in Hahnhof in a residential building and in 1925 eleven people lived in a residential building. The students had to go to the Catholic school in Kutzenberg, 0.8 kilometers away. In 1950 Hahnhof had 14 residents and one residential building. In 1970 the wasteland had six inhabitants. On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved. Hahnhof came to the Lichtenfels district with Prächting . In 1978 it was incorporated into Ebensfeld.

Attractions

Hankirche

The Catholic Hankirche, a parish and pilgrimage church, stands in the wasteland of Hahnhof. A lively pilgrimage to her developed in the 16th century. In 1610 the medieval chapel was expanded by adding a nave and a saddle roof tower . In the 18th century the church was rebuilt in two sections. 1723–24, Andreas Rheinthaler and Christoph Leidner built a new nave. 1765–67 the tower and choir were built by Johann Thomas Nissler . The baroque hall church , a sandstone block building, has a slightly indented choir and a tower with a curved twin hood. The high altar was purchased in 1782, it fills the entire width of the choir like a wall architecture.
