history

The Heidelberg - Bruchsal - Karlsruhe ( Baden-Kurpfalz-Bahn ) railway was opened to traffic on April 10, 1843, initially on 1600 mm wide gauge. In Langenbrücken , the neighboring town of Mingolsheim, a train station was built at the same time (today's name: Bad Schönborn Süd ). A few years later, the line was expanded to double tracks.

Since Baden's broad gauge was incompatible with the gauges of its neighboring countries, it was feared that the lucrative transit traffic would be lost . Therefore, the Baden routes have been already in 1854 within four months on standard gauge (1435 mm) umgespurt .

The communities of Mingolsheim and Kronau worked together to build a train station, but their efforts were not successful until 1874/1875. The station was inaugurated in 1875 and was named "Mingolsheim". In 1906 the municipality of Kronau submitted the first request to name the station "Kronau". It was not until 1920 that the station was renamed "Mingolsheim-Kronau". When Mingolsheim and Langenbrücken were incorporated into the newly created municipality of Bad Schönborn on January 1, 1971 as part of the Baden-Württemberg municipal reform, the station was named Bad Schönborn-Kronau .

In 2003, as part of the integration of the Rheintalbahn from Mannheim to Karlsruhe into the network of the RheinNeckar S-Bahn, the platforms were upgraded to accommodate the disabled . The opening of the S-Bahn took place at the regular timetable change 2003/2004 on December 14, 2003, in whose system the station has been integrated ever since.

On December 2, 2009, the ticket machines at Bad Schönborn-Kronau train station were replaced. When installing the devices, the incidence of the sun's rays was taken into account, so that reflection on the screens has been excluded since then.

Since the tariff border to the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (VRN) runs north of the municipality of Bad Schönborn, it belongs to the transitional area of this transport association. Therefore, the Bad Schönborn-Kronau train station forms the border between the two transport associations. Depending on the direction of travel, the offers of the respective transport association can therefore be used.

In the course of the planned bypass of Bad Schönborn, noise protection measures are being planned for the Rhine Valley Railway , some of which have already been implemented.
