geography
Hamburg is located on the western edge of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area . According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 0.5 square kilometers. A Union Pacific Railroad (formerly Chicago and North Western Railway ) runs through the town .
history
In the second half of the 19th century, predominantly German settlers settled in the area and formed the place that was named after the German city of Hamburg . On May 1, 1900, the place received the status of a village and later city rights.
