Norwood Young America is a city in the US state of Minnesota in Carver County . In 2010 the place had 3549 inhabitants.
Many residents of the community have German ancestors, which is why the foundation festival has been held every year in August for over 140 years, a kind of small Oktoberfest with music in the beer tent and some outdoor attractions. A German brass band is flown in every year.

The city is 35 miles (as the crow flies) and 70 miles by road southwest of Minneapolis . The US Highway 212 , the Minnesota State Route 5 and the Minnesota State Route 25 pass through the town.
history
Norwood goes back to 1872, the history of Young America begins in 1856. The city was formed by the merger of the parishes of Norwood and Young America on January 1, 1997. Because of the somewhat long name, the name of the city is often abbreviated to NYA .

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Norwood Young America had 3108 people. The population density was 718.6 people per km ². There were 1201 housing units at an average of 277.7 per km ². The population of Norwood Young America was 98.10% White , 0.13% Black or African American , 0.45% Native American , 0.42% Asian , 0.51% said they were racial , and 0.39 % % named two or more races. 2.64% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
