The Hammerbach is a 2.4 km long, left-hand or northwestern tributary of the Wiederitz in the urban areas of Dresden and the Freital in Saxony , located in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district . Its name is probably derived from a former hammer mill located in Hammer .

course

The Hammerbach rises in the southern Dresden district of Zöllmen and flows in a north-west-south-east direction into the Döhlen basin and there through the urban area of Freital. In the Hammer settlement in the Kohlsdorf district west of the Kirschberg, the brook to the Hammerteich is dammed. It then flows through some residential areas and finally flows into the Wiederitz, which comes from the west, at the level of the former Zauckeroder train station of the disused narrow-gauge railway Freital-Potschappel-Nossen .

use

The Hammerteich was expanded into an outdoor pool in the 1920s by the owners of Gasthof Kohlsdorf . However, the facility was not accepted as desired, so that bathing had to be stopped again.

Since the opening of the Federal Highway 17 between the junction Dresden-West and the junction Dresden- Gorbitz of Hammersbach is used as a drainage channel for the roadway. This was accompanied by a significant increase in the water level in the event of storms.
