Hans-Henning Ginzel (* 1988 in Fürstenfeldbruck ) is a German composer and cellist . He is mainly active in the field of chamber music and orchestras .

life and work

Ginzel studied cello and composition in Munich and Madrid, a. a. with Moritz Eggert and Jan Müller-Wieland . During his training he took part in master classes and a. with Wolfgang Rihm , Hans Zender , Wolfgang Boettcher , Lothar Zagrosek , Martyn Brabbins and Jörg Widmann .

As a chamber musician, Ginzel a. a. together with Henri Bonamy , Moritz Eggert, Salome Kammer or Peter Eötvös . In 2012 he founded the Arcis Cello Quartet , which he directs as well as the Munich ensemble hartmann21 . He had engagements a. a. at Musica Viva and the Munich Biennale . Together with Reiner Ginzel, he also performs under the name GinzelDuello .

Ginzel has received numerous awards for his work as a composer. He composed a. a. on behalf of the Munich Philharmonic , the Weidener Max-Reger-Tage , the Tonkünstlerverband , the Technical University of Munich and the Free State of Bavaria . His works have been performed at national ( Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival ) and international festivals. In broadcasting his compositions were u. a. to be heard on BR-Klassik , Deutschlandradio , ORF and SWR . In 2016, the documentary "Putin's secret network" ( ZDF Frontal21 ), for which Ginzel wrote the music, was nominated for the best documentary film at the German television award. In addition, he is a juror at Jugend Komposiert Bayern and the Karl Amadeus Hartmann Composition Competition .

As a conductor Ginzel worked u. a. with the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich , Ensemble Sonor and the Neue Philharmonie München. In 2018 he founded the concert series # Listen # Out in Munich with the Karl Amadeus Hartmann Society. Ginzel is u. a. Member of the Bavarian Tonkünstlerverband and the German Composers Association . In spring 2020, Ginzel began to offer regular musical live streams on various online platforms under the hashtag #intimatepiano .
