Hans Apel-Pusch

Hans Georg Joachim Apel-Pusch (born October 16, 1862 in Raschwitz , † April 21, 1921 in Dölitz ) was a Saxon major general in the First World War .

Life

Military career

Apel-Pusch passed his A- levels at the Thomas School in Leipzig in 1883 . He then joined the Saxon Army as an officer candidate . In 1891 he was promoted to prime lieutenant . From 1897 he was captain à la suite of the 3rd Jäger Battalion No. 15 and company commander in the cadet corps in Dresden . In 1908 he was aggregated to the 4th Infantry Regiment No. 103 . As a major , Apel-Pusch became battalion commander in the 2nd Grenadier Regiment No. 101 in Dresden in 1909 . In 1913 the lieutenant colonel was transferred to the staff of the 5th Infantry Regiment "Crown Prince" No. 104 .

With the outbreak of the First World War, his regiment mobilized and moved into France in conjunction with the 23rd Reserve Division (1st Royal Saxon) . In the fighting at Moronvilliers in September 1914, he was able to prove himself particularly well despite serious illness and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of St. Henry on October 15, 1914 . In the further course of the war he was exclusively on the Western Front and fought a. a. in the autumn battle in Champagne . From 1916 to 1918, Apel-Pusch was Colonel in command of the 105th Reserve Infantry Brigade. In April 1918 he was promoted to major general and on April 18, 1918 he was awarded the Commander II Class of the Military Order of St. Henry for his extraordinary achievements during the German Spring Offensive .

Apel-Pusch was married to Emily, née Wagner (1876–1969). He died in Dölitz in 1921. Their common grave is in the Markkleeberg cemetery, Rathausstrasse 51.
