Hans Brandli

Hans Brändli (born February 5, 1896 in Basel as Johann Heinrich ; † November 4, 1974 in Chur ) was a Swiss pastor and author .

life and work

Hans Brändli was the son of pastor Oscar Brändli , who worked in the Leonhardskirche . Brändli studied theology at the universities of Basel, Zurich and Berlin , where he met the secretary of Erich Schair , Helene Wauschkuh, and married in 1918. In the same year he received his doctorate from the University of Zurich and was ordained .

From 1918 to 1921, Brändli was vicar and assistant pastor in Zurich- Wollishofen , Meisterschwanden - Fahrwangen , Lugano and St. Peter .

Parish offices

  • 1921 to 1923 in Pitasch - Duvin - Riein Graubünden . Here he learned the Romansh language.
  • 1923 to 1927 in Safenwil .
  • 1927 to 1929 in south-west France in Agen for the Swiss emigrants. They ran farms that were orphaned by the First World War . Because of the divorce from his wife, Brändli was "transferred" against his will.
  • 1929 to 1961 in Basadingen - Schlattingen - Willisdorf . Brändli was not sworn in on the Thurgau ordination vow and gave his sermon on his favorite text Mark 10, 35–45.
  • 1961 to 1974 in Trin and other Graubünden communities. On the road as a retired pastor.

Brändli wrote book reviews, translations, obituaries, articles on ecclesiastical matters that a.o. a. have appeared in the socialist Volksstimme , in the Anzeiger am Rhein , in Bündner and other newspapers in Eastern Switzerland . He used contact and a. to Walter Nigg , Karl Barth , Leonhard Ragaz , Max Seidel , Arnold Knellwolf , Kuno Fiedler and Albert Schweitzer .

Brändli was granted honorary citizenship of Basadingen in 1955.

family

Brändli married Helene Wauschkuhn in 1918. They had two sons together. In his second marriage, he was married to Kläri, née Hofer († 1944) from 1929, with whom he had the daughter Barbara Brändli . In 1955 he was married to Hilde Ragosch for the third time. After his last visit to his daughter in Caracas , Brändli died in Chur and was buried in Trin.
