Hans-Georg Brase (born September 15, 1993 in Charlottesville , Virginia ) is a German-American basketball player . He is under contract with Hamburg Towers . Brase is 2.05 meters tall and his position is that of the tall winger .

Career

Brase played at Gaston Day School in North Carolina before moving to Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania in 2010 .

From the 2012/13 season he played at Princeton University ( New Jersey state ), where he began studying sociology. In his third season with the "Tigers", Brase was the second best points collector (11.5) and Princeton's best rebounder (7.5) according to the mean values ​​per game. Brase was the team's co-captain. In November 2015, Brase tore a cruciate ligament and was out for the entire 2015/16 season. In the 2016/17 season, he played five games (6.4 points, 2.8 rebounds on average) for Princeton, before he injured his right knee again in December 2016 and was out for the rest of the game year.

For the 2017/18 season he went to Iowa State University . For the university team called "Zyklone" he was on the field in 21 games and scored an average of 2.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per encounter over the course of his university graduation season.

His first stop as a professional basketball player was the Bundesliga club Mitteldeutscher BC , who announced Brase's commitment at the end of May 2018. In his first professional year 2018/19 he played a total of 23 Bundesliga games for MBC and averaged 5.2 points per game. During the summer break of 2019, he moved within the Bundesliga to the MHP Giant Ludwigsburg . He was German runner-up with Ludwigsburg in the 19/20 season, Brase got 3.5 points per Bundesliga match on the way to silver.

At the beginning of August 2020 he was signed by the Bundesliga club Hamburg Towers .

National team

In 2013 Brase was appointed to the U20 national team of the German Basketball Federation and was in the squad for the U20 European Championship in Estonia in the same year.

In July 2015, Brase won silver with the German national student team at the Universiade in Gwangju, Korea .

Personal

Brase was born to German parents from Hanover in the US state of Virginia . The family temporarily returned to Germany and Hamburg shortly after his birth, only to move back to the United States when Brase was three years old. He then grew up in Clover, South Carolina .

His sister Marie-Luise ( Colgate University ) and brother Janpeter ( St. Lawrence University ) also played basketball at college.
