Hans Everding (born October 17, 1876 in Gelsenkirchen , † December 13, 1914 in Kassel ) was a German sculptor and medalist .

Life

Johannes Everding, called Hans, son of the general practitioner Friedrich Wilhelm Hermann Everding (1824–1880) and the meat and trichinae examiner Ella Müldner (1854–1951), studied after attending the Royal Friedrichsgymnasium in Kassel at the Kassel Art Academy with Carl Begas the younger one . In addition to some sculptures, he is mainly known for his monuments and fountains. In 1898 he received a small gold medal at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition . In 1899 Everding received the Grand State Prize of the Royal Academy of Arts , combined with an extensive study tour through Italy and a stay in the Villa Strohl-Fern in 1899/1900 and extended in 1901. Everding stayed in Rome and was supposed to be 1902, according to the emperor after the execution of the monument to be erected for Empress Friedrich on Siegesallee in front of the Brandenburg Gate . The sculptor Fritz Gerth was commissioned. In February 1902 Everding married Marie le Noir (1877–1918) in Kassel. The Accademia di San Luca in Rome awarded him the Müller Prize in 1910, which, according to Ernst Christian Pfannschmidt , was given alternately to Spanish, German or French artists. In 1912 the daughter Marianne († around 1990) was born in Rome. Everding died at the age of 38 in the presence of an acquaintance who certified this in Niederzwehren . His grave of honor is in the main cemetery in Kassel. The widow of the sculptor Marie took over the house of the le Noir family at Friedrichstrasse 16 around 1915/1916.
