Hans Ulrich Graf

Hans Ulrich Graf (born June 20, 1922 in Zurich , legal resident in Oberembrach , † October 5, 2010 in Bülach ) was a Swiss politician ( Republican , SVP ) and publisher .

biography

From 1943 to 1950 Graf studied law at the University of Zurich and graduated successfully as a Dr. iur. from. In the same year he and his brother took over the printing works and the weekly newspaper “Bülach-Dielsdorfer Volksfreund” from his late father, which he renamed in 1957 to “ Neues Bülacher Tagblatt ” and made it a daily newspaper. He was the newspaper's publisher and editor-in-chief for over 50 years, from 1950 to 2001 . From 1961 to 1970 he was also the editor of the “Schweizer Schützenzeitung” and from 1967 to 1981 he was a member of the central committee of the Swiss Rifle Association .

Graf joined the FDP , converted to the republican movement between 1971 and 1978, and finally switched to the Swiss People's Party in 1978 . In the parliamentary elections in 1971 he was elected to the National Council in the canton of Zurich and had a seat there until November 24, 1991. He was one of the founders of the Action for an Independent and Neutral Switzerland (Auns) in 1986 and has been on its board ever since. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the family-owned Graf AG printing company. His political priorities were military and security policy on the basis of armed, permanent neutrality .

Graf died on October 5, 2010 at the age of 88. His funeral took place on October 13, 2010 in the closest family circle in Bülach.
