Hans Voss (diplomat)

Hans Voss (born January 31, 1931 in Demmin ; † October 14, 2016 in Berlin ) was a German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Romania , Italy and Malta .

Life

Voss, the son of a working-class family, trained as an administrative clerk from 1946 to 1948. He then worked for the Demmin District Council .

From 1953 Voss was a member of the GDR diplomatic service. From 1953 to 1960 he was senior consultant and head of department for German issues in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). During this time he completed his studies at the German Academy for Political Science and Law and graduated as a lawyer . From 1960 to 1963 he was head of the GDR consulate general in Burma and in 1962 in Cambodia . He then returned to the MfAA, from 1965 to 1970 as head of the 6th European Department (West Germany). In 1967 he graduated as Dr. jur. and was a member of the Constitutional Commission of the People's Chamber in 1967/1968 . From 1970 to 1977 he was ambassador of the GDR in Bucharest , from 1978 to 1985 ambassador in Rome and from 1979 to 1985 second accredited in Malta . From 1986 to 1989 he was deputy head of the delegation at the CSCE follow-up meeting in Vienna . In 1989 he was head of delegation at the CSCE environmental meeting in Sofia and the information forum in London and in 1990 at the Bonn economic conference .

Voss was a member of the SED .

He was a board member in the Association for International Politics and International Law. V.
