Hans von Hardenberg (politician)

Baron Hans Christoph Hildebrand Aloysius von Hardenberg (born October 27, 1824 in Oberwiederstedt , † February 25, 1887 in Munich ) was a German politician. He was a Prussian district administrator and government vice-president .

Life

He came from the noble von Hardenberg family and was the son of Georg Anton von Hardenberg (1781–1825), landlord on Oberwiederstedt, and Annette geb. von Witzleben (1783–1857). In 1854 Hardenberg became a member of the Prussian manor house . From 1861 he was in the Prussian state service. In 1862 he became successor of Anton von Krosigk as district administrator of Mansfeld mountainous district of the governmental district Merseburg the Prussian province of Saxony and remained until 1866 in office. In 1866 he was the district president civil commissioner of the Kingdom of Hanover, annexed by Prussia . From 1867 to 1876 he headed the regional council in Kassel as a vice-president with the rank of regional president , but in 1875 he was considered unsuitable for the office of chief president of Hessen-Nassau .

Hardenberg died in Munich, but was buried at Gut Schlöben .

He married on October 24, 1846 in Berlin Marie von Carlowitz (born January 11, 1825 in Frankfurt am Main , † August 19, 1899 in Hainbücht near Stadtroda ), the daughter of Hans Georg von Carlowitz (1772-1840) and Jeannette Karoline von Schönberg (1780–1826). Both son Askan Freiherr von Hardenberg (1861-1916) worked as a councilor in Saxony-Altenburg .

For his person and his wife, but not for the children and descendants, Hans von Hardenberg received the approval of the Royal Herald's Office in Berlin to use the baron title on April 8, 1882. The general authorization of the baron title could not be proven and has not been proven accepted.
