history

In 1888 the Kronenbrauerei Berlin built a ballroom with 424 seats and 1,364 standing places. A year later, the hall became the Moabit City Theater . A conversion to the Hansa Film Palace with 800 seats took place in 1913. The Filmpalast was only mentioned in the public address books from 1923 onwards. Another renovation took place in 1963. In that year Paul Esser founded the private theater Schauspielhaus Hansa with 500 seats. From 1974 the theater was named Hansa-Theater .

Extensive renovation work took place again in 1999 and Claudio Maniscalco and Pietro Maniscalco renamed the house in Berlin's Volkstheater Hansa . In March 2018 it became known that the Hansa Theater would be demolished and that apartments would be built in its place.

In May 2020, the building in the backyard was finally razed to the ground.
