It was never in Wonderland is a US-German computer animation film directed by Paul J. Bolger from 2006 .
action
With the help of his two clumsy but lovable assistants, the magician monitors all the fairy tales in his care. The magician maintains the balance between good and bad in the fairy tale world. Now he is finally going on a well-deserved vacation and hands over the fairy-tale land to his two assistants, precocious Munk and the slightly bored Mambo.
Cinderella - also called Ella - dreams of her Prince Charming. Your best friend is Rick, the royal dishwasher. He brings Ella an invitation to the royal ball. Rick is just a friend to Ella, but Ella means more to Rick, although his coolness and pride forbid this. Rick's friends, the three "funny" cooks, firmly believe that Rick is a bad case of "Prince Envy".
The real prince, on the other hand, wants to be “a picture book prince”: perfect hair; perfect clothes - perfect everything. Tonight is the night he wants to meet his bride.
But things often turn out differently than you think. Thanks to Munk and Mambo, Ella's evil stepmother Frida has managed to break into the magician's cave. It chases the two assistants away, shifts the balance between good and evil and thus causes a number of fairy tales to get out of whack. As for Ella, according to Frieda she will forever remain Cinderella.
Tired of the happy fairytale world, the evil alliance - led by Frieda - succeeds in defeating the good. However, when Ella's own romantic fairy tale world threatens to break up, she forms a resistance - without the prince of her dreams.
Confronted with a fairytale world that has gone out of joint, Ella and her hitherto unrecognized love - Rick - are now forced to take their fate into their own hands.
The race for control of the wonderland has begun and the power-obsessed Frieda - filled with contempt for the good - is on the verge of destroying our popular "And if they haven't died, they are still alive today."
Reviews
James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the film was a film "of the worst kind": he considers itself "funny" and "clever", which it is not. The animations would look like an amateur's work. Berardinelli criticized Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar in her speaking roles.
Ann Hornaday derided in the Washington Post on January 5, 2007 that the film was a family film only in the sense that the whole family wanted to avoid it. It would be quickly forgotten. Hornaday praised only the "talents" shown in their speaking roles of Sigourney Weaver and George Carlin.
The lexicon of the international film judges: "The animated film can hardly ever fill the attractive initial idea with life, especially because animation and character development are too poor."
