Harald Huber (politician)

Harald Huber (born July 30, 1912 in St. Gallen , † April 10, 1998 in Lutry , entitled to live in Töss and Uesslingen-Buch ) was a Swiss politician (SP) and federal judge .

biography

Harald Huber was born on July 30, 1912 as the son of the politician Johannes Huber in St. Gallen. Huber studied law in Geneva , Munich and Zurich , which he completed in 1938 with the academic degree of Dr. iur. completed.

As a result, Huber worked as a lawyer in St. Gallen from 1939 to 1962 . From 1963 to 1981 he was a federal judge of the public law chamber, the second civil law chamber, the court of cassation and the federal criminal court . In addition, Huber served as President of the Federal Supreme Court between 1979 and 1980. Harald Huber also served as Vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross from 1971 to 1982 and was the first President of the Foundation for Consumer Protection .

In 1939 he married Annemarie Dora, the daughter of the businessman and bank clerk Oliviero Primo Zenobio Baroni. The marriage had two daughters. Harald Huber died on April 10, 1998 at the age of 85 in Lutry.

Political career

The social democrat initially served as a councilor for the city of St. Gallen from 1942 to 1948 . He was also represented in the Cantonal Council between 1945 and 1962 and in the National Council between 1947 and 1962 .
