Harry Langewisch

Harry Carl Georg Langewisch (born November 23, 1894 in Berlin ; † August 12, 1957 there ) was a German actor , director , screenwriter , radio and radio drama speaker and operetta singer.

Life

Born and raised in Berlin as the son of a businessman, Harry Langewisch studied German at the universities of Freiburg, Berlin, Munich and Rostock. In 1913 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Berlin . He took private acting lessons and made his debut at the Rostock City Theater in 1920 . This was followed by engagements at theaters in Halberstadt , Altenburg , Leipzig and Berlin. He was also seen in "cheerful lectures" at the Berlin Variety Theater Scala . In 1954 there is an appearance in Hugo von Hofmannsthal's comedy The difficult one to recordin the role of a famous man at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm .

He worked in some film productions . These included the GW Pabst films Komödianten with Käthe Dorsch , Hilde Krahl and Henny Porten from 1941 and Paracelsus from 1943 with Werner Krauss , Mathias Wieman and Harald Kreutzberg . He was also involved in numerous cultural films as a screenwriter and director .

Harry Langewisch turned to the radio early on. For the broadcasters Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk AG (MIRAG) and Reichssender Leipzig , RIAS Berlin , Sender Freies Berlin and Bayerischer Rundfunk he had many appearances in radio plays and entertainment programs. In 1928 he was already listed as a speaker and reciter in the literary department of MIRAG. In 1954 he embodied the character of the court martial in the radio play adaptation of the novel Die Caine was her fate by Herman Wouk , directed by Gert Westphal in a production by RIAS and Südwestfunk (SWF). In addition to him, OE Hasse , Wolfgang Lukschy and Harald Juhnke spoke in other roles . He also served in 1955 as a baritone in the role of Chang in a production of Franz Lehár - operetta The Land of Smiles to hear of the Bavarian Radio.

Harry Langewisch died in 1957 in Berlin-Nikolassee .
