Harold York (born April 16, 1974 in Ponoka , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the St. Louis Blues , New York Rangers , Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League , among others .

Career

Harry York played during his junior years from 1992 to 1994 for the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and then one season with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. In 1995 he was named Most Valuable Player of the Alberta Junior Hockey League after he had scored a total of 109 points in 54 games in the 1994/95 season. In the summer of 1995 he played inline hockey with the Chicago Cheetahs in Roller Hockey International . He then signed a contract with the Nashville Knights in the East Coast Hockey League , where he was in 64 games on the ice and posted 83 points. In the same season, York also played for the Atlanta Knights in the International Hockey League and Worcester IceCats in the American Hockey League . On May 1, 1996, he signed a contract with the St. Louis Blues as a free agent .

In the 1996/97 season he was set as a regular in the NHL squad of the Blues and came to 79 NHL games and scored 32 points. He also began the following season in St. Louis, but remained well below its previous year's figures and was transferred to the New York Rangers on March 24, 1998 in exchange for Mike Eastwood . After only seven games without points, he was given up in November 1998 together with the Russian Alexei Kowaljow to the Pittsburgh Penguins . In return, Petr Nedvěd , Chris Tamer and Sean Pronger moved to New York. A few days later he was put on the waiver list by the Penguins and selected by the Vancouver Canucks . In Vancouver, the left-handed shooter was regularly used in the 1998/99 and 1999/2000 seasons and scored 33 points in 103 games. York closed the 1999/2000 season with a game at the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL and ended his active career at the end of the season.
