Hartwig Reimann

Hartwig Reimann (born September 18, 1938 in Riesenburg / West Prussia ) is a German local politician. He belongs to the SPD .

Life

After attending primary school in Lower Saxony and grammar school in Hamburg (Abitur 1957), he studied law and political science in Berlin , Hamburg and Erlangen .

After the first (1961) and second (1967) state examinations , Reimann was appointed finance assessor and councilor at the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance for three years . In 1970 he was elected Social Democratic Lord Mayor of Schwabach . He held this office for 38 years. Reimann himself says that he was an "embarrassing candidate" at the time, he himself was planning a career as a judge at the Federal Administrative Court . From 1986 to 1999 Reimann was a member of the Bavarian Senate .

So far, he has broken two records: when he took office, he was Germany's youngest mayor, and after Landshut mayor Josef Deimer left the country at the end of 2004, he was the longest serving mayor until 2008.

After he was no longer allowed to run for the mayor election in March 2008 because he had exceeded the maximum age limit, he resigned from his office as mayor of Schwabach in May 2008. In the city council election that took place at the same time, however, he was elected to the city council from last place (40) on the SPD list. In 2014 he was re-elected from last place on the city council. In 2018 he stepped down from the city council.

Reimann lives in Schwabach, has six children and five grandchildren.
