Horst Bienek Prize for Poetry
The Horst Bienek Prize for Poetry is an international literary prize awarded by the literature department of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts since 1991. With it, the entire work of a poet is honored.
The foundation emerged from the legacy of Horst Bienek , which he bequeathed to the Academy. The prize is awarded at the beginning of December; Until 2003 the award took place annually, since 2005 every two years. The main prize is endowed with 10,000 euros, the sponsorship award, which is usually awarded at the same time, with 5000 euros (status 2018).
