plant
open up - ignite
The volume opens up - unleashed - brings together seven poetry cycles and arranges them in two parts.
The first part consists of two similarly built cycles of nine poems and a section which is also entitled "Zwischenstücke". It leads into the (metaphorical) flow of lyric poetry that is based on voice and speaking, also thematically, and in which body and nature interpenetrate. Utler's poetry always remains precise in terms of rhythm and sound, as the author attaches great importance to her oral presentation as the realization of what is written.
The second part of the volume opens up on four mythological themes. The myths of Chronos , Marsyas , Daphne and Sibylle are developed in the undiminished intensity of their individual lyrical tone. Here, too, Anja Utler works out the (often painful) connection between nature and body, but at the same time lets her knowledge of literary and literary theoretical developments of the 20th century shine through.
After all, the processing of the figures Daphne and Sibylle (with a prefix by Marina Cvetaeva ) clearly show a differentiated awareness of femininity, as is also expressed in Utler's scientific work.
exercised. A course correction
The prose exercised. A course correction takes up the already problematized relationship between human and plant-animal bodies in Utler's poetry. An ecologically motivated terrorist appears as the first-person narrator in the text. In individual, in the text also so-called "sheets", she tries to give herself an account of her actions, her motivation, her own story. The narrative style follows less a chronological logic than the paths of remembering and self-exploring thoughts. The variety of recorded, often painfully empathic perceptions and reflections corresponds to the variety of literary forms used on the creative level, ranging from narrative prose to poetic passages and poems to dialogical-dramatic scenes.
