The Hasselbach , also called Hasselsbach, is an almost four kilometer long, southern and left tributary of the Strunde in the area of ​​the district town Bergisch Gladbach in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rheinisch-Bergische Kreis .

history

The Hasselbach, then called Hasselsbach or Hassels-Bach , served as a tributary to the Deutzer Weiher . In the course of the construction and expansion of the Bensberg-Gladbach zinc hut , the course of the stream in this area was relocated to the south.

The Hasselbach rises at an altitude of about 109  m above sea level. NHN in the Neuborn pond near Neuborn .

The stream initially flows in a westerly direction below the Zinkhütte industrial park , crosses the golf course and the Schluchter Heide , and finally in Gierath at an altitude of 69  m above sea level. NHN to flow into the strunde from the left. In the last few meters, the stream forms the border between Bergisch Gladbach and Cologne .

Catchment area

The catchment area of ​​the Hasselbach lies in the Paffrather Kalkterrasse natural area and is drained into the North Sea via the Strunde and Rhine .

Most of the eastern part of the catchment area is forested. The catchment area is populated on the lower reaches.

The stream has no named tributaries.

Gierather Wald nature reserve

The Gierather Wald nature reserve extends in the Bergisch Gladbach urban area between Gierath and Brandroster in the west, Schlodderdich in the north, the golf course in the east, and Sandbüchel and Saaler Mühle in the south. It is also a part of the Schluchter Heide and the Bergische Heideterrasse .
