Hatred (English "the hate" ) is a power and thrash metal band from the Schweinfurt / Bamberg area . The current members are Matthias Mauer (vocals), Martin Köth (guitar), Frank Schmauser (guitar), Harald Schmitt (bass) and Philipp Klinger (drums).

history

The band was founded in 1998 by Mirko Endres (vocals) and Daniel Buld (drums). In April 1999 Steffen Lindner joined Hatred as guitarist, in June and July 2000 Stefan Hofmann (electric bass) and Michael Lehnard on second guitar. Matthias Mauer finally replaced Mirko Endres in September of the same year. In this combination Hatred played their first appearance in March 2001 at the Neustadt / Saale youth center. After that, the band gained experience at many smaller and larger events. Appearances with Uncle Tom, Tankard , Vendetta, Wizard or Chinchilla are worth mentioning from the founding years.

The Schweinfurters' greatest successes include appearances with the bands Testament and Annihilator in front of several thousand people at the Earthshaker Festival 2003 and two participations in the successive years 2005 and 2006 at the Metalcamp Festival in Slovenia. In addition, Hatred shared the stage with Six Feet Under , Ektomorf , Destruction and Sodom and in 2007, alongside Entombed and Candlemass, were one of the few foreign bands to be seen at the largest metal festival in Ireland, the DOD .

In commercial terms, Hatred was particularly able to attract attention with the demo "Fractured". The first 500 copies of the debut from 2002 are sold out six months after publication, the larger second edition is also out of print today.

With "Soulless" and "Madhouse Symphonies" and "Destruction Manual" the band has now been able to expand its discography by three albums and made it into the Enzypedia of Rock Hard Magazine, the most important band lexicon for heavy metal and hard rock in Germany.

In November 2008 the band signed a record deal with the Lübeck independent label Twilight-Vertrieb. The album "Madhouse Symphonies" was reissued and marketed throughout Europe in the course of this.

In addition, singer Matthias "Bacchus" Mauer and former drummer Daniel "Evil Ewald" Buld founded the Queens of Metal festival , which is presented by the largest German metal label Nuclear Blast .

On December 31, 2008 Hatred won the online voting of the Dubai Desert Rock Festival with their song "Caught in the Pit".

Since November 16, 2009 Hatred have been the official anthem for the video game Brütal Legend , which is distributed by Electronic Arts , with the song "Mosh Crüe", a version of the title "(We are the) Moshcrew" from their album Madhouse Symphonies .

In the autumn of 2010 the band changed the record company. The successor to "Madhouse Symphonies" called "Destruction Manual" was released via SAOL, an independent label from Hanover. October 22, 2010 was named as the official release.

Daniel Buld, the last remaining founding member, left the band in May 2012. In the future, the drummer will be active with the Franconian thrash metal band from Paradox and play there with the former Hatred guitarist Christian Münzner. He was replaced by Philipp Klinger in June of the same year.

For 2015 the band announced the successor to Destruction Manual "War Of Words". On March 18th, the first single "Fuck The Zombie" was released. On May 5th, the video for the title "War Of Words" was released via YouTube . On May 8th and 9th, two CD release shows took place in Hanover and Coburg, together with Cripper and Lost World Order, whereupon the Franconians signed a record deal with MDD Records a short time later . On September 18th "War Of Words" was released again via MDD Records and contains three bonus tracks.

style

Musically, Hatred are mainly based on Bay Area Thrash Metal of the 1980s, as played by Exodus , Metallica or Testament , and add elements of Power Metal - for example high chants and melodic refrains. With the album "Madhouse Symphonies", longer, worn song parts came into play as additional musical facets.
