André Hazes
André Hazes (born June 30, 1951 in Amsterdam , † September 23, 2004 in Woerden ) was a Dutch singer . He mainly sang popular hits.
Live and act
At the age of eight, Hazes was discovered by Johnny Kraaykamp while standing at the Albert Cuyp market in Amsterdam to sing for the traders. Kraaykamp built Hazes as a child star for the television program of the Dutch broadcaster AVRO (today: AVROTROS ).
His first big hits were Eenzame kerst (1976) and De vlieger (1977). In 1979 he signed a contract with the record company EMI . Shortly afterwards he made the leap into the top ten of the Dutch single charts with the songs Een vriend and Een beetje .
In 1982 Hazes gave an acclaimed concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 1986, in memory of his mentor Willy Alberti , Hazes released an album in Italian . He then fulfilled a childhood dream with the production of a blues album . The award-winning documentary André Hazes, zij gelooft in mij was created in 1999 under the direction of John Appel .
2002 Hazes was a local party for a short time alderman in De Ronde veins .
André Hazes died on September 23, 2004 at the age of 53 after being briefly admitted to the hospital as a result of poorly controlled diabetes and two heart attacks .
In spring / summer 2007 the single Blijf bij mij , which is actually a cut by André Hazes and Gerard Joling , took first place in the Netherlands for eleven weeks . A little later, his son Dré Hazes had another number 1 hit with the song Bedankt mijn vriend , which also included older recordings by his father.
