The Hegersport GmbH is a German company founded in 2000 in the field of motorsport , which is primarily active in event organization, but was also active as a racing team in the FIA GT1 World Championship in 2010 .
Motorsport history
The racing driver Altfrid Heger and the business economist Christof Maischak founded Hegersport GmbH in 2000 in Essen - Heger's hometown.
The company was responsible for organizing the V8 Star Championship with silhouette touring cars from 2000 to 2003 inclusive . The series was initially suspended in 2004. But finally the 2005 season had to be canceled.
From 2004 Hegersport has been organizing sports driver training courses and other events in the automotive sector. Since 2005, the company has been organizing the Porsche Sports Cup Germany as a customer sport series for amateur racing drivers on behalf of Porsche .
In 2010 Hegersport decided to take part in the newly announced FIA GT1 World Championship under the name Tripple H Team Hegersport . As one of two teams in the series, Hegersport fielded two Maserati MC12 GT1s throughout the season. The technical support of the vehicles was taken over by the later world champions and five-time FIA GT championship team Vitaphone Racing from Michael Bartels , which also used two Maserati. Hegersport often changed drivers and therefore had hardly any continuous driver pairings. In the team standings, the team finished seventh with three podium finishes.
Team boss Heger took part in all races except for the race in Spain . He shared the cockpit initially with Alexandros Margaritis and later with Alex Müller . Hegersport's second Maserati began with Bert Longin and Matteo Bobbi . After Bobbi left the team, Longin drove with Nico Verdonck and Alessandro Pier Guidi , who also contested the season finale together. When Longin drove the first car with Müller in Portugal , Pier Guidi and Nikolaus Mayr-Melnhof shared the second. The two Brazilian drivers Francisco Longo and Daniel Serra contested the race in Brazil for Hegersport.
Before the 2011 season , the team announced that it would no longer take part in the FIA GT1 World Championship for cost reasons and would concentrate on event management.
