Shade (alternative title: Hot Game in Las Vegas ) is an American thriller directed by Damian Nieman from 2003 .

The film opens with a flashback in which young Dean Stevens plays poker. The game is interrupted by a robbery. There is a shootout that only Stevens and one of the attackers survive.
During the opening credits you see Tiffany and Charlie Miller earning a small sum by cheating. They then meet Larry Jennings and discuss the next coup - a card game. From another flashback we learn that another accomplice - Vernon - is employed as a croupier in a casino.
Jennings plays and loses over $ 100k. The lost money did not belong to him, but to Mafioso Malini. A little later Jennings is killed by two killers Malini, Marlo and Nate.
Charlie Miller, Tiffany, and Vernon discuss a $ 2 million game against Dean Stevens. They come to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel , where they find that Malini is attending the game. Stevens wins with three women while Malini advises the trio to stay away from Los Angeles. In the end, it turns out that Vernon conspired with Stevens and his other accomplices to take out Miller and Tiffany.

Kevin Thomas wrote in the Los Angeles Times on April 9, 2004 that the film was "diverting" and that its ending was "satisfactory" and "unpredictable". The film presents familiar things from a “fresh perspective”.
The lexicon of international films wrote that the film “fell short of expectations” “despite an above-average cast and elaborate equipment”, because the “cumbersome narrative” and “fragmentary staging” meant that it was “difficult to maintain” the viewer's interest.
