B-Real (born June 2, 1970 in Los Angeles , California ; real name Louis Freese ) is an American rapper , who became known with the group Cypress Hill .
life and work
B-Real was born in Los Angeles . He grew up in South Gate , where he joined a division of the Bloods gang. In 1988 he was shot in a drug-related incident and he resigned. In the same year the group Cypress Hill was founded, in which he has been active from the start. His nasal chant is his trademark. According to an interview with Ice-T , he developed this tone because Cypress Hill colleague DJ Muggs found that in his normal voice he was not remarkable enough as a rapper.
In addition to Cypress Hill, B-Real was involved in various other projects. Among other things, he was the discoverer and promoter of the duo Psycho Realm , supported Everlast on their album Eat At Whitey's and the metal band Fear Factory on their album Digimortal . In 2006 he recorded the song Vato with Snoop Dogg for his album Tha Blue Carpet Treatment ; He has also released four solo mixtapes so far, on which he was supported by Eminem and Mellow Man Ace , among others . He is also a member of the Serial Killers trio (with Xzibit and Demrick).
In February 2009 B-Real released his first solo album under the title Smoke n Mirrors via Duck Down .
Since 2016 he is a member of the band Prophets of Rage with former Rage Against the Machine -members and Chuck D .
Movies
In the film Who's the man (1993) B-Real had a small guest role among other hip-hop artists, and in the same year he played a member of the " Crips " in Meteorman , while he was a member of the "Bloods" in his youth . This film also featured DJ Muggs, Sen Dog and Naughty by Nature . He also appeared with his bandmates from Cypress Hill in 2001 in the movie So High . In 2003 he played a supporting role in Shade .
