The Catholic Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Schweinheim , a district of Euskirchen in the Euskirchen district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ), was built in the 15th century. The chapel dedicated to the Holy Trinity is a protected architectural monument .

history

A chapel in Schweinheim was first handed down in the 15th century. The Gothic building probably stands on foundations from the Romanesque period.

architecture

The chapel is around 15 meters long and around 5 meters wide. The hall construction from quarry stone is plastered and the oldest parts in the west are from the 15th century. The windows are pointed arch in the nave and round arched in the choir , they are set in stone . A roof turret sits on the sloping gable roof to the west , crowned by a pointed helmet . The sacristy on the south side dates from the 18th century. The upper floor of the sacristy is made of half-timbering . The ship has a flat roof and is decorated with stucco.

Furnishing

The baroque altar represents the Holy Trinity in its central niche. In the side niches of the choir there are figures of Mary and Joseph .

Late Gothic frescoes were uncovered on the western south wall . They show the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt and the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
