Heimkirchen is a district of the local community Niederkirchen in the Verbandsgemeinde Otterbach-Otterberg in the Kaiserslautern district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Heimkirchen is located in the North Palatinate Uplands to the east of the core town of Niederkirchen, with which it has meanwhile grown structurally and is mainly surrounded by agricultural land. The Steinbach and its tributaries Nedinger Bach , Holborner Bach and Bornbach flow through the town or its catchment area . Heimkirchen also includes the Holbornerhof , Karlshöhe and Kreuzhof residential areas .
history
Until the end of the 18th century, the place belonged to the Schallodenbach rule of the Sickinger . From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Heimkirchen was incorporated into the Canton of Otterberg . In 1824 the place had a total of 324 inhabitants. From 1818 to 1862 the place was part of the Landkommissariat Kaiserslautern , which was then converted into a district office.
In 1928 Heimkirchen had 466 residents who lived in 87 residential buildings. The Protestants owned a parish on site at the time, while the Catholics belonged to that of Schallodenbach . In 1938 the place was incorporated into the district of Kaiserslautern . After the Second World War , Heimkirchen became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate, Heimkirchen was incorporated into Niederkirchen on June 7, 1969, within which it has since formed a local district.

The mayor is Jürgen Lanzer (FWG). In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected with 65.05% of the vote.
Infrastructure
With the Protestant church, a war memorial, an inscription stone, the Holborn mill and two courtyards, a total of six objects are listed. The district road 31 , which connects it with Kreimbach-Kaulbach and Schallodenbach , also runs through the village . There is also a riding club in the village. There is also the Old World nature trail . There used to be a Protestant school in the village.
