There the wet meadows and fallow meadows have expanded considerably. About 250 m down the stream, it is fed by the small Gehlbach near a fish pond on its left .

Still accompanied by strong woodland suitable for the location, the stream now runs in a west-north-westerly direction, initially about 250 m through fields. Then his bed borders on intensively used grassland on the left and a small hillside forest on the right. About 70 m southwest of Kreisstraße 32 , which will now accompany him to Heimkirchen, the Nedinger Bach coming from the northeast flows towards him on his right . The Steinbach then flows south along a mixed oak forest that is under nature conservation and then reaches the southern tip of the village of Heimkirchen, where it is strengthened on its left by the Holborn Bach coming from the south .

The Steinbach now runs west of the houses-lined Brunnenstrasse ( K 31 ) on the outskirts of the village. In the center of the village, the Bornbach flowing in from the northeast joins on the left . The Steinbach then, accompanied by heavy vegetation, moves through a green zone between the northern slope of a hill covered with a protected orchard and the southern edge of the village. The Steinbach continues, lined with bushes and trees, south of Heimkircher Straße (K 31) through the meadows of the Flur Am Bächel along the edge of the settlement area of ​​the community of Niederkirchen. The area of ​​the Steinbach borders in the northwest on the catchment area of ​​the small Oderbach tributary Kohlgraben and in the north the Nussbach , the longest tributary of the Odenbach, competes . In the east, its catchment area is bounded by the Moschel and its tributaries, the Messersbach and Pfaffenbach, and in the south by the Odenbach tributaries Kirschgraben , Sellbach and Baierbach .

Most of its catchment area is characterized by sandy - loamy fields and meadows. The slopes of the hills are partly covered with forest. The water structure of the Steinbach has changed moderately to significantly in its upper course. Biotopes

The Steinbach valley is a valuable habitat for many animal and plant species. There are three species-rich and worthy of protection biotopes in it .

In the source area of ​​the Steinbach is the biotope source area of ​​the Steinbach east of Holbornerhof with the area number: BK-6412-0177-2009. The biotope is around 1.4 hectares in total. In the significant stream floodplain area, there are narrow wet meadows and fallow meadows with valuable small trees. The brook is lined with ash and sal , ash and basket willows . In the herb layer grow yellow irises , brooks , flood swaths and unnoticed hedgehog cobs as well as white ostrich and reed grasses . The third biotope is located west of Heimkirchen and is about 9.0 hectares in size. It is called Streuobstwiesen W Heimkirchen and has the area number BK-6412-0270-2009. The orchards there, located on a northern slope, are laid out parallel to the slope and in some cases have the character of a tree hedge. These fruit trees of local importance are a structurally rich and also culturally and historically valuable habitat in which cave breeders can nest. In the orchard meadow there are pear , plum, apple and sweet cherry trees , as well as pedunculate oaks and also the blackthorn and the dog rose. Below in the herb layer grow the Pyrenean cranesbill , the Rapunzel bellflower , the common oat, the blackberry and the great nettle .
