Heinrich August Grosch (born February 26, 1763 in Lübeck , † July 6, 1843 in Oslo ) was a copperplate engraver , painter and drawing teacher of German origin who lived and worked in Denmark and Norway . The focus of his works was on romantic landscape depictions in copperplate and aquatint techniques.

Grosch was the son of Friedrich Heinrich Grosch, a watchmaker and candidate of theology, and Catharina Tiedemann. Before 1790 he was apparently a student of Johann Jochen Ludwig in Lübeck. From 1790 to 1794 he studied with Ernst Heinrich Löffler at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen. He completed his training with distinction (small silver medal).

From 1790 to 1811 Grosch lived in Copenhagen and in 1799 married Johanne Margrethe Gerhardine Clar (1775–1849), daughter of a pharmacist and ceramist from Rendsburg . In 1810 Grosch made his first trip to Norway. He founded a private drawing school and his own painter's studio in Frederikshald (now Halden ) in 1811. In 1817 he moved to Christiania (now Oslo), where he was involved in the founding of what would later become the royal art school, where he worked as a teacher until 1840.
