Heinrich Döring (theologian)

Heinrich Döring (born October 12, 1933 in Schierschwende , Thuringia ) is a German Roman Catholic fundamental theologian , religious scholar and university professor emeritus .

Life

Heinrich Döring was born as the son of Paul and Emma (née Degenhardt) Döring. After studying Catholic theology from 1955 to 1962 in St. Augustin / Bonn , Fulda and Würzburg Heinrich Döring in 1962 by Adolf Bolte in Fulda for priests ordained , then he served as until 1965 Kaplan and religion teacher in Fulda and Bad Hersfeld operates. In 1968, his doctorate was followed to Dr. theol. in Würzburg, in 1971 his habilitation in the subject of fundamental theology and comparative religious studies by the University of Würzburg.

From 1971 he became a private lecturer at the University of Würzburg, in the same year a full professor for fundamental theology, ecumenical theology, comparative religious studies and theology of religion at the Philosophical-Theological University of Fulda and at the Catholic-Theological Seminar of the University of Marburg . At the same time he worked as a spiritual director at the Episcopal Seminary in Fulda. In 1972 he moved to the Philosophical-Theological University of Passau as a full professor of fundamental theology, and in 1977 as professor of fundamental theology at the newly founded University of Passau . From 1979 to 2001 he was full professor for fundamental theology and ecumenical theology, at the same time head of the institute of the same name at the LMU Munich as successor to Heinrich Fries . In 2001 he retired .

Since 2011 he has been working in pastoral care in St. Laurentius (Ohlstadt) .

His better-known students include Armin Kreiner , Alexander Loichinger , Claude Ozankom and Perry Schmidt-Leukel .
