Heinrich Günther Gottfried von Bosse

Heinrich Günther Gottfried von Bosse (born November 19, 1680 in Clausthal ; † December 6, 1755 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , chief of garrison regiment No. 6 and governor of Usedom , Ueckermünde , Stolpe and Verchen .

Life

His father Nikolaus Bosse was a well-known engineer in Eisleben . He came first as a commoner in the Prussian army and fought in the War of the Spanish Succession . Bosse was wounded in the Battle of Malplaquet , and he fought in the sieges of Béthune , Aire-sur-la-Lys , etc.

Military career

Bosse served himself up and in 1718 became captain of the "Prinz Leopold" infantry regiment . On January 12th, 1732 he was appointed lieutenant colonel in the infantry regiment "von Glaubitz" , as well as governor of Usedom, Uckermünde, Stolpe and Verchen. He also took part in the Rhine campaign of 1734. On May 29, 1743 he was promoted from colonel to major general. During the Second Silesian War he fought under Prince Leopold von Anhalt . After taking Leipzig , he was appointed the city's commander. On May 24, 1747 Bosse was promoted to lieutenant general. In December 1750 he became chief of the "von Lehmann" garrison regiment , and he was given the command of Kosel . In December 1753 he was able to retire with a pension of 3000 Talers and died on December 6th, 1755.

Bosse was considered a good engineer, fortified many places and also worked in the mining industry. For his services, he and his brother, the fortress engineer Hans Martin von Bosse († December 9, 1718) were raised to the nobility.

He was married to Maria Isabella Margaretha von Eckhart. Their son Friedrich Leopold was also a Prussian lieutenant general.
