Friedrich Leopold von Bosse

Friedrich Leopold von Bosse (born May 15, 1719 in Magdeburg , † April 29, 1802 in Sagan ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , chief of the 11th Dragoon Regiment and governor of Draheim .

Life

His parents were Lieutenant General Heinrich Günther Gottfried von Bosse (1680–1755) and his wife Maria Isabella Margaretha, née von Eckhart.

Military career

Bosse entered Prussian service in 1739 and joined the "Bredow" cuirassier regiment . He became a cornet in 1741 , a lieutenant in 1745, a staff officer in 1755 and a cavalry officer in July 1756 . In June 1759 he became a major , in 1769 a lieutenant colonel and in 1772 a colonel . As early as 1770 he was appointed commander of the "Backhoff" cuirassier regiment and in 1777 he was appointed commander of the "Kalkreuth" dragoon regiment . On March 12, 1778, he was appointed major general and on May 20, 1787 also lieutenant general. In 1778 he was still chief of the "Mitzlaff" dragoon regiment. On May 16, 1780 he was given the office of Draheim. In addition, he received the inspection of the Silesian cavalry from Major General Pannewitz . He retired in 1788 and handed the inspection over to the later General Köhler .

He fought in all of Friedrich II's campaigns from 1740 onwards . In the battle of Chotusitz , however, he lost his right ear and in the battle of Kunersdorf his right foot was seriously injured.

family

He was married to Margarete Walther (1727–1791) a daughter of the Chamber Councilor Walther von Ihlefeld from Nordhausen. The couple had several children:

  • Georg Albert Anton Gerhard (1767–1822), District Administrator of Groß Wartenberg 1806 to 1822 ∞ Juliane Amalie Countess of Dyhrn
